Books Sale Helps Keep Kids Reading

Come browse treasures that can last a lifetime at the Friends of the Community Library Network book sale, Friday, Nov. 1, 4 – 8 p.m. and Saturday, Nov. 2, 10 a.m. – 2 p.m. As always, a large selection of books will be for sale to suit everyone’s reading pleasure with titles for children, teens, and adults.  In addition, history, cooking, hobby, and art enthusiasts will find the selections and prices too good to pass up.

The money raised from the purchase of books goes into library programs designed to keep kids reading.  An upcoming program supported by the Friends is the celebration of Idaho Family Reading Week.  The special event will be at the Silver Lake Mall on Friday, Nov.8, 11 a.m.  Everyone is invited to watch the fantastical, magical, musical extravaganza Seussical performed by CYT North Idaho.  Karen Yother, youth services coordinator for the Library Network, said children can have their pictures taken with Cat in the Hat and receive a free book.  “It wouldn’t be possible without the Friends help,” she said.  Other children’s program supported by the Friends includes Summer Reading, Happy “Noon Year,” American Sign Language family workshops, and the recent Very Hungry Caterpillar party.
